
The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens, known as The Huntington, is a collections-based educational and research institution established by Henry E. Huntington and Arabella Huntington in San Marino, California, United States. In addition to the library, the institution houses an extensive art collection with a focus on 18th and 19th century European art and 17th to mid-20th century American art. The property also has approximately 120 acres (49 ha) of specialized botanical landscaped gardens, including the Japanese Garden, Chinese Garden, Desert Garden, and Rose Garden.
Why I Love The Huntington Library
My favorite place to appreciate art and nature is The Huntington Library, located in San Marino, California. Visiting The Huntington Library can be a long trip, but it is well worth the time with its beautiful views. Its art collection features famous paintings such as Thomas Gainsborough’s The Blue Boy and Thomas Lawrence’s Pinkie, which are often displayed together. After admiring these renowned works of art, I usually head to the botanical gardens. Some of its most stunning gardens include the Japanese Garden, Chinese Garden, Desert Garden, and Rose Garden. The Rose Garden is my favorite, as it offers the enchanting experience of being surrounded by a field of roses in a variety of colors. Overall, I highly recommend visiting The Huntington Library to spend a day learning and connecting with nature.

Chinese Garden
The Chinese Garden at the Huntington Library is a place of beauty and tranquility that I always enjoy visiting. The elegant pavilions, peaceful lake, and winding pathways create a serene atmosphere that feels like stepping into another world. Delicate stone bridges and intricate carvings showcase traditional Chinese design, while the lush plants and bamboo groves add to the garden’s natural charm. The sound of flowing water and the sight of koi swimming in the ponds make it a perfect spot to relax and take in the surroundings. Every visit feels like a peaceful retreat, making it one of my favorite places at the Huntington Library.
Rose Garden
The Rose Garden at the Huntington Library is one of my favorite places because of its vibrant colors and beautiful fragrances. Walking through the garden, I love seeing the countless varieties of roses in shades of red, pink, yellow, and white, each with its own unique scent. The neatly arranged flower beds and charming pathways create a peaceful and romantic setting, perfect for taking in the beauty of nature. Whether in full bloom during spring or gently fading in the cooler months, the garden always feels enchanting. It’s a wonderful place to relax, take photos, and enjoy the simple joy of being surrounded by flowers.
